On 14th May 2007, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Malta, H.E. Mr. Chai Xi paid his courtesy call on the Honourable Dr. Lawrence Gonzi, Prime Minister of Malta at the Auberge de Castille, Valletta. Ambassador Chai and the Honourable Dr. Gonzi held a cordial and friendly meeting with each other discussing  the current situation of the longstanding and close friendship between China and Malta, expressing the will to make joint efforts to explore the potential areas in the future bilateral mutual beneficial cooperation especially in the fields of finance,investment, IT, transhipping and  tourism and education.
