Dr. Gonzi: Malta Committed to Strengthen Relations with China
2009/10/05

“The close relations between Malta and China have transcended geographical distance and huge differences in territorial size. Malta values these friendly ties and is committed to further strengthen them”, said Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi of Malta when he received a courtesy call by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Keyuan on 2nd October.

Warmly welcoming Ambassador Zhang for his tour of duty, Dr. Gonzi once again expressed congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, saying the new China had not only enabled enormous economic and social development at home, but also brought positive changes to the world.

Ambassador Zhang conveyed to Dr. Gonzi greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and Vice President Xi Jinping.

Noting with admiration the likewise long history and brilliant culture of Malta as China, Ambassador Zhang spoke highly of the strong China-Malta friendship and the ongoing multi-faceted exchanges and cooperation in recent years. He assured Dr. Gonzi that, as the new Ambassador, he would do his best to help further relations by actively implementing the consensus reached by leaders of both countries and exploring cooperation in the fields of alternative energy, electrical vehicle and etc.
