Dreams of Beijing Olympics -1st Children's Painting Exhibition Opened at China Cultural Centre in Malta

On the evening of May 31st, Dreams of Beijing Olympics -1st Children's Painting Award Presentation & Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition was held at China Cultural Centre. Chinese Ambassador to Malta Mr. Chai Xi and his wife Mrs. Zhang Rufen, Mr. Frans Borg, Permanent Secretary of Education, Mr. Joseph Cassar, Secretary General of Malta Olympic Committee attended the event together with winners as well as their parents and teachers. Mr. Zheng Hao, Director of China Cultural Centre, presided over the ceremony.

Ambassador Chai spoke highly of the painting competition in his opening address. He said that the Children's Painting Competition organized by China Cultural Centre on the occasion of the World Children's Day is a meaningful event; the competition not only attracted a lot of attention from the kids to Olympics, but also served as a platform for the little artists to show their talents. He pointed out that it is a rewarding attempt in the forms of cultural exchanges and meanwhile a good way of understanding and communicating with children. Mr. Borg highly commented the role China Cultural Centre has been playing in promoting cultural exchange between the two countries and expressed his appreciation to the Centre for organizing the competition. He said that China Cultural Centre provided a stage for the kids to bring out their imagination and creativity and to experience the concepts of participation and competition. He also encouraged the children to dream high about themselves, their families, their future and the world.

The honorable guests then presented the certificates undersigned by H.E. Ambassador Chai Xi and gifts like Fuwa and Olympic badges etc to the winners.

Dreams of Beijing Olympics - 1st Children's Painting Competition was organized by China Cultural Centre in Malta under the patronage of the Chinese Embassy in Malta. The Centre has received nearly a hundred entries by kids between 6 to 12. The exhibition comprises of 55 paintings, including works from 4 first prize winners, 8 second and 12 third.
