Chinese Ambassador to Malta Mr. Chai Xi hosts a reception on the assumption of the post

On the evening of 18th May 2007, Chinese Ambassador to Malta, Mr. Chai Xi and his wife Mrs. Zhang Rufen hosted a reception at the Embassy on the occasion of assuming the new post. Present at the reception were some 200 people including Maltese high-ranking government officials, military officers and friends from various social circles along with senior diplomats in Malta.

In his remarks to the guests, Ambassador Chai expressed that he felt honored to be appointed as the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Malta and was fully aware of his great responsibilities . He spoke highly of Malta for her beautiful scenery, prosperous economy, harmonious society and hospitable people. He pointed out that this year had witnessed the 35th anniversary of China-Malta diplomatic ties. The leaders of the two countries had laid down good foundation for the development of Sino-Maltese relations, he would exert all his efforts to expand and deepen the friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. Ambassador Chai sincerely hoped that during his tenure here he could get support and help of Maltese friends from various circles and jointly make unremitting efforts to keep the good momentum of development of China-Malta relations.

The atmosphere of the reception was cordial and friendly. All the guests extended congratulations and welcome to Ambassador Chai on his assumption of the post. They spoke highly of the development of China-Malta friendly ties and the positive achievements of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation and wished the continuous development of Sino-Maltese friendly relations.
